We have witnessed multiple new car launches across segments so far this year. However, there’s still plenty of excitement and action for auto enthusiasts in the coming months. OEMs such as Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, Tata, Mahindra, and Honda are ready to roll out new offerings in different price ranges. Let’s take a look at the key details of these upcoming new cars.
New-Gen Maruti Dzire
The fourth-generation Maruti Dzire compact sedan is likely to go on sale right after Diwali 2024 – on 4th November. The new model will feature a significantly improved design, a more upmarket interior, additional features, and a new 1.2L Z-Series petrol engine. Suzuki’s new Z-Series engine, which debuted in the Swift hatchback, delivers a claimed output of 82bhp and 112Nm of torque. Transmission options will include a 5-speed manual and an AMT. The Dzire CNG will be available only with a manual transmission. While the 2024 Dzire’s design will differ from the Swift, most of its feature upgrades will be similar to its hatchback sibling.
Mahindra XUV.e8
The Mahindra XUV.e8 is scheduled for launch in December 2024. It will be the first Mahindra to be built on the brand’s INGLO born-electric platform. Spy images suggest that the production-ready XUV.e8 will remain faithful to its concept, which was revealed on 15th August last year. Unlike its ICE version, the XUV700, which features a dual-screen setup, the Mahindra XUV.e8 will have three individual screens integrated into a single casing that stretches across the dashboard. All three units are expected to run Mahindra’s Adrenox software. Mahindra has already confirmed that the new electric SUV will have a battery pack of up to 80kWh and an AWD (all-wheel drive) system.
Hyundai Creta EV
The Hyundai Creta EV is set to launch in January 2025. This will be Hyundai’s answer to the Tata Curvv EV, BYD Atto 3, MG ZS EV, and the upcoming Maruti eVX. Recent spy images reveal that it will feature a new three-spoke steering wheel and a drive selector lever mounted on the steering column, similar to the globally sold Kona EV. Its center panel for HVAC controls will be sourced from the Alcazar facelift, while the dual-screen setup will be similar to the ICE-powered Creta. The Hyundai Creta EV’s powertrain will include a 45kWh battery pack and an electric motor mounted on the front axle, producing 138bhp and 255Nm of torque.
Maruti Suzuki eVX
The all-new Maruti Suzuki eVX will make its global debut in January 2025, followed by its launch in Europe and Japan. In India, the electric SUV is expected to arrive in the first half of 2025. The eVX will measure around 4.3 meters in length and feature a closed-off grille, large headlamp assembly, squarish wheel arches, a coupe-SUV-like roofline, and connected LED taillamps. The interior could offer a dual-screen setup, a two-spoke steering wheel, a floating center console with a rotary dial, a 360-degree camera, ADAS features, and more. The eVX is expected to come with a 60kWh battery pack and an electric motor, providing a range of around 500km.
Tata Harrier EV
The Tata Harrier EV has been confirmed for release in the fiscal year 2025. Like the Punch EV, it will be based on Tata’s Acti.EV platform and is expected to have a flat floor inside. The electric SUV is likely to be equipped with a 60kWh battery pack and two electric motors, one on each axle, providing AWD capability. Its estimated range is around 500km on a single charge. The Harrier EV will also come with vehicle-to-load (V2L) and vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) charging capabilities. Most of the design elements from the concept model are expected to be retained, including the closed-off grille, new front and rear bumpers, blacked-out headlamp clusters, flush door handles, and LED taillamps connected via a light bar. The interior details are still under wraps, but it is expected to feature a layout similar to its ICE counterpart.
Mahindra XUV3XO EV
Mahindra will soon introduce the electric version of the XUV3XO subcompact SUV. Production of the EV is expected to begin by November 2024, with the market launch following soon after. Codenamed S240, the XUV3XO EV might share the 34.5kWh battery pack from the XUV400 EV. Its dimensions will remain similar to the ICE version, though it will receive a few EV-specific changes inside and out. Prices are expected to start at Rs 15 lakh for the base variant, going up to Rs 17 lakh for the fully-loaded top trim. In Mahindra’s lineup, the XUV3XO EV will sit below the XUV400 EV and compete against the Tata Nexon EV.
New-Gen Honda Amaze
The new-generation Honda Amaze is expected to launch towards the end of this year, with deliveries likely starting in January 2025. In the compact sedan segment, it will continue to compete against the Maruti Suzuki Dzire and Hyundai Aura. Major changes will be made to both the exterior and interior, though the engine setup will remain the same. The 2024 Amaze will switch to the City’s platform but retain the smaller wheelbase. The new-gen model will feature the existing 1.2L petrol engine with 5-speed manual and CVT automatic gearbox options. Reports suggest that a CNG option may also be introduced later
