Bernard Williams Mwonyonyo (also referred to as Uncle Ben) is a Kenyan banker, entrepreneur, and emerging politician. He serves as Constituency Manager for Westlands Constituency (under MP Timothy Wanyonyi) and has declared his intention to run for the Westlands MP seat in the 2027 general election, reportedly under the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) ticket.

    Professional Experience

Mwonyonyo has over 20 years of experience in banking, financial services, advisory, and credit/finance sectors, with a focus on retail banking, SME/corporate banking, relationship management, and leadership.

    • CEO, 247 Capital Limited (2017 โ€“ present): Leads the company in capital and financial services.
    • Managing Partner, Zuri Advisory Services Limited (May 2017 โ€“ present): Lead consultant providing advisory services.
    • Regional Branch Manager, Bank of Africa Kenya (Aug 2014 โ€“ present / ongoing roles noted).
    • Branch Manager, Bank of Africa Kenya Ltd (various roles: Sep 2013, May 2012 onwards).
    • Earlier banking positions include Service Centre Leader at NIC Bank (2005โ€“2008) and other roles in retail and relationship banking.
    • Board Member / Chairperson roles: Board Member at Fortune Credit Limited (social enterprise focused on inclusive finance, asset financing e.g., electric bikes for boda boda riders, rural economic empowerment); also associated with other entities like Africa Trade Finance Company (Director, ATFCC Kenya) and possibly board chair positions in credit/finance initiatives.

He is described as a certified banker with expertise in leadership, business strategy, portfolio management, cross-selling, and credit analysis.

    Education

    • Masterโ€™s degree in Strategic Management, Daystar University (around 2016).
    • Bachelor of Arts (Economics/Sociology), University of Nairobi (2000โ€“2004).
    • Professional training: Kenya Institute of Bankers (AKIB โ€“ Banking and Financial Support Services, 2009โ€“2012); Leadership and Management Development programs (e.g., Raser Group, 2013โ€“2016).

    Political and Community Involvement

    • Long-time associate of Westlands MP Hon. Timothy Wanyonyi (NASA/ODM-aligned); has served as Constituency Manager and reportedly as CDF (Constituency Development Fund) Chairman or similar local leadership roles.
    • Actively involved in constituency affairs, grassroots mobilization, and development initiatives in Westlands, Nairobi.
    • In 2025โ€“2026, he stepped forward as an aspirant for the parliamentary seat, positioning himself amid competition for the 2027 race. Supporters highlight his local experience, loyalty to the constituency, and ability to “walk with” the current leadership.

    Other Details

    • Based in Nairobi, Kenya.
    • Active in business networks promoting accessible finance (e.g., partnerships for green mobility, rural empowerment via Fortune Credit).
    • Maintains a relatively low public social media profile compared to national figures, with a Facebook page under Bernard Williams Mwonyonyo and an X account (@BMwonyonyo) with limited activity.

Mwonyonyo represents a blend of private-sector banking expertise and grassroots political engagement in one of Nairobiโ€™s key constituencies. His bid for MP in 2027 adds him to the growing list of aspirants in Westlands, a competitive urban seat.
