Hon. Joseph Lendrix Waswa is a Kenyan businessman and philanthropist. He is affectionately known as “Chairman”. He is also an aspiring politician from Webuye West Constituency in Bungoma County. He founded the Joseph Waswa Foundation, also known as JW Foundation. As its patron, he has undertaken various community development initiatives. As of April 2026, he is actively positioning himself as a candidate. He aims to secure the Webuye West Member of Parliament (MP) seat in the 2027 General Election.

    Background and Public Image,

Waswa sees himself as a compassionate, empathetic, and action-oriented leader. He is driven by a commitment to serve the people of Webuye West. He emphasizes servant leadership, humility, and delivering tangible results in education, infrastructure, and economic empowerment.Through his foundation, he has been involved in:

    • Distributing bursaries and school uniforms to vulnerable learners (primary, secondary, and tertiary students).
    • Supporting education infrastructure and access, including appeals for better learning environments.
    • Revitalizing community assets like cattle dips to boost local agriculture and livelihoods.
    • General grassroots philanthropy aimed at addressing poverty and underdevelopment in the constituency.

He has criticized the incumbent MP, Dan Wanyama, in public. He accuses him of poor leadership. He also accuses him of failing to deliver development and resorting to propaganda. Waswa urges voters to use the 2027 ballot to bring change. He has pledged a people-centred approach. This approach focuses on economic growth and improved livelihoods.

In 2022, he was involved in Bungoma politics. At one point, he dropped out of a Senate race. He then backed another candidate.

    Aspirations for 2027

Waswa is campaigning on a platform of accountable leadership. He focuses on economic revival and fixing what he calls years of stagnation in Webuye West. He positions himself as a down-to-earth, vibrant leader. He has already demonstrated impact through private philanthropy. He is ready to translate that impact into public service.

    His message often revolves around:

    • Prioritizing safe and dignified learning spaces for children.
    • Grassroots development over political rhetoric.
    • Owning responsibility as a leader rather than making excuses.

He maintains an active presence on social media (including a Facebook page under “Hon. Joseph Lendrix Waswa”) where he shares foundation activities and political messages. As the 2027 election cycle heats up, Waswa is one of the emerging contenders in Webuye West. He appeals to voters seeking different leadership in Bungoma County politics.
